A proactive approach to most things in life offers numerous benefits.

It’s the same for the network you rely on every day as new features help deliver enhanced user experiences, reduced downtime, improved security, productivity gains, and even meet or exceed regulatory compliance requirements.

The team at Nile has been super busy, with December and early 2024 being no exception. In fact, this is just the first in a series of announcements where we’ll be covering everything that’s important to IT teams, users, and our partners. Here’s what’s new and available today:

  • New features that save time for IT admins and improve their efficiency
  • A security update to MyNile, the industry’s only end user facing portal for enterprise networks
  • Scalability enhancements for Nile’s secure guest service
  • New updates to Nile’s integration with Forescout and LogicMonitor

New DHCP troubleshooting test tool

Customer IT teams can now access an easy-to-use DHCP test tool directly from their Nile Portal. This tool helps to quickly diagnose if endpoints can reach the segment where the DHCP server is connected. If not, it identifies whether there is a reachability or DHCP scope issue.

The outcome? The ability to determine MTTR 50 to 60% faster. This new feature not only enhances the user experience but also cuts down on the possibility of unwanted help desk tickets first thing in the morning as users begin to arrive.

New endpoint discovery filter

No more scrolling through multiple pages in the Nile Portal hunting for MAC addresses or device names. Now, you have a quick and easy way to search for and find the endpoint you’re looking for out of hundreds or thousands of devices during help desk calls, troubleshooting situations, and more.

Imagine the convenience of getting a complete list of the cameras or printers that are offline after a power outage in seconds instead of spending 10 minutes or more every time you’re trying to solve a problem.

New secure account administration for IT admins

This new feature enables organizations to leverage their existing identity store or Single Sign-On (SSO) solution to manage Nile Portal Admin user access. There’s no need to create a separate account on the Nile Portal, which could be overlooked if an IT member leaves the organization. This not only saves time but also enhances your security posture.

New scalability for Nile’s Secure Guest Service

In 2024, if achieving campus zero trust compliance is your goal, we’re here to help. Imagine secure guest Wi-Fi for up to 1,000 users where everyone is completely isolated – especially those devices that might be infected with malware. With no visibility of traffic between guests and complete isolation from the guest segment to enterprise resources, you gain security, peace of mind, and a compliance boost. New privacy switch for the MyNile Portal

IT organizations can now use the Nile Portal to trigger the heat map on the end user facing  MyNile Portal into stealth mode, ensuring individual user’s devices and location remain unseen. While everything else functions as expected, there are occasions where it’s beneficial to obfuscate areas with a high user density for security or privacy reasons. The choice is yours.

New Forescout integration

Any organization currently using Forescout and transitioning to Nile’s layer 3 network isolation architecture can now leverage their existing Forescout instance for user and endpoint segmentation policies on the Nile Access Service.

With this integration, there’s no need to worry about VLAN and ACL issues. Instead, take advantage of per device isolation while strengthening your zero trust security posture.

New LogicMonitor integration

If you’ve chosen LogicMonitor for enhanced visibility, we’ve got you covered with our built-in REST API. You can forward endpoint context to LogicMonitor, including discontents and authentication failures, directly from the Nile Portal. Here’s what else:

  • Set up rules and alerts in the LogicMonitor dashboard to monitor the Nile Access Service and user experience for any issues.
  • Simply point to your LogicMonitor instance in the Nile Portal to send Audit, Alerts, and UserDeviceEvents.
