The rapid proliferation of IoT and OT devices across wired and wireless networks has significantly expanded the enterprise attack surface. Many of these devices lack strong security and authentication and are often deployed with limited visibility and control. Traditional segmentation methods—such as VLANs and access control lists—are frequently misapplied or insufficient, enabling lateral movement and increasing the risk of compromise.

Consequently, one-third of all breaches now originate from IoT/OT devices connected to legacy networks that are not secure by design. Traditional endpoint security does not cover this. AI-based agents are worsening the problem.
