Nile has entered into a technology partnership with InfobloxⓇ, an IT industry leader that offers networking and IT security products. Infoblox was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California. This blog entry describes how Infoblox NIOS and Nile Access Service integrate, and how that will yield important benefits for customers that want to use both offerings together.

Infoblox NIOS–cloud-managed DDI

Infoblox NIOS is a cloud-managed DDI offering that combines three critical core network services in one platform: DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), and IPAM (IP address management). DNS maps web domains to IP addresses. DHCP assigns IP addresses to network elements, and IPAM helps organizations to manage those IP addresses. These network services make IT teams more efficient and give them greater control and visibility over network resources. IT teams can access these services from the unified NIOS cloud-based management console.

Enterprise organizations have increasingly implemented DDI in recent years. Researchers predict that this trend will likely continue1,2, with sources predicting 15-17% growth in the market. This growth is driven by such factors as the increasing adoption of IoT, BYOD, virtualization, and IPv6. Infoblox is the market share leader in DDI.

How Nile Access Service integrates with Infoblox NIOS

The Nile Portal lets customers view their Nile network’s performance to SLAs for availability, coverage, and capacity. Nile Access Service integrates with Infoblox NIOS through the Nile Portal. This integration helps extend the Infoblox NIOS advanced DNS security capabilities to the enterprise-wide wired and wireless access infrastructure and protects the network from DNS-based attacks. The Nile service continuously monitors Infoblox NIOS cloud-managed DHCP and DNS services through the Nile Portal, allowing IT teams to drill down on any issues with these critical network services. IT can configure alerts for DHCP and DNS failures to receive notifications by email. Nile has thoroughly tested the interoperability of the two offerings as part of its technology partnership with Infoblox. The interoperability guide for Infoblox NIOS provides more details, and this demo video shows how Nile Access Service and Infoblox NIOS work together.

Customer benefits of Infoblox NIOS and Nile Access Service integration

Nile Access Service and Infoblox NIOS complement one another as elements of a cloud-first networking strategy. The joint solution dramatically reduces complexity by automating routine management tasks or letting IT teams offload them. It enhances the end-user experience with maximum performance and availability. It also increases visibility into network performance and core network services, with a unified interface in the form of the Nile Portal. The solution scales to meet the needs of large enterprises while maintaining simplicity.

Other Nile technology partnerships

Nile also has technology partnerships with several other major players in the IT industry including Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Zscaler, Netskope, Snowflake, Splunk, and Amazon Web Services. Nile Access Service integrates with next-generation firewalls from Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet. Just recently, Nile announced an integration with SecureW2 Cloud RADIUS, which provides passwordless certificate-based network authentication based on 802.1X.

Conclusion

The technology partnership between Nile and Infoblox is another high-impact example of how Nile Access Service interoperates with important offerings from other technology leaders in the IT industry. This integration will yield significant benefits for Nile and Infoblox customers. It’s another reason prospective customers should consider NaaS by Nile to address their connectivity needs.
